In this blog post I wanted to give you a more detailed description of one of the collections that I have on the website. This collection is the Vintage Lace Collection, which consists of a pink lace wedding cake, lace pocket invitations, table numbers and pink straws with personalised flags.
Firstly for the cake I wanted to create something very simple that was not the traditional white cake. This was a 3 tier dusty pink wedding cake with lace around each tier, this was then set off with thin dusty pink ribbon around the edge. One of my favourite parts of this cake is the bow on the top tier. It is so subtle but really brings this together with the matching stationery. The 2 roses on the cake are handmade gumpaste roses, I think this cake looks lovely with the 2, but would also work with a dome of roses on the top.
Within this collection the lace invitations are one of my favourites. Each invitation is 5×5 inches in size and placed inside a hand crafted white pearlescent pocket which has a lovely piece of wide lace and strap which reads we’re getting married. The invitation is then taken out from the top to show the couples name and the details of their wedding. When it is opened up it has printed a custom map, directions, details of where the guests can stay and a link to their gift list. On the back of the invitation it has a lovely pink rose pattern which really brings it back to match the roses on the cake. Also in the pocket is an RSVP postcard which the guests can post back without having to worry about having to find an envelope. One of the main things I wanted to do with this invitation and the other invitations that I create is put all the information in one pack so that it is easy for the guest to find the information and nothing can get lost or mislaid.
Throughout this whole collection I have used the same pink and the same font on all the stationery. I love this pretty floaty script font and think its great for wedding stationery. Within this collection there are also pink paper straws with personalised flags. Each flag has the couples name on one side and the date of the wedding on the reverse. These are a great fun way to add a little personal touch to the drinks reception and really bring your whole theme together. These straws come in a variety of colours, so I am definite there would be one to match any theme.
