Laura & Umit’s Wedding Cake & Stationery

May 10, 2014

I had the pleasure to sit down with Laura and Umit whilst they were in the planning stages of their wedding and go through all their ideas. Their wedding was last Saturday at the lovely Orangdry at the Turkey Mill in Maidstone. They had some great ideas and I was so happy to be able to create their invitations, table names, table plan and wedding cake for them.

When first talking about all their wedding designs Laura & Umit had some great ideas. Umit is a DJ and him and Laura were looking for their stationery to represent this in a way that combined their gold wedding theme but in a flyer style with modern / festival music element. I designed the invitation as a DL size invitation in a flyer style. It had a perforated rsvp card which could be torn off and returned to Laura and Umit. The day invitations also included the menu choices for the guests.

For the table plan and table names we followed through the same design with the gold gradient background, the fonts and their name header. The table plan was a2 in size and I loved how the table plan looked in its white frame set up at the venue.

I also had the pleasure of creating their wedding cake for them and I was so excited for them to see the cake on the day. The cake was a 3 tier wedding cake made up of a 6 inch carrot cake top tier, 8 inch lemon cake middle tier and 10 inch chocolate bottom tier. The cake was covered in ivory icing and decorated with a ruffle rose design. The cake was then finished off with a thick gold ribbon bow and cute bunting topper which Laura had given me to add.

I was really pleased with how the ruffles looked and it had a really pretty feel to it. At the venue the cake was placed on a white porcelain cake stand which gave it extra height. It really was a pleasure creating everything for Laura and Umit, they are an lovely couple and I wish them all the happiness as Mr & Mrs Batman x.
